Earlier this year, on September 17, Truck both returning students and new members, walked away with a greater understanding of FIRST and a better attitude.” Town Thunder competed at Kettering University’s “Kettering Kick-off”. This is an off-season event Kettering puts on in order to kickoff the new school year and an upcoming FIRST season. This event was created to encourage teams to recruit new students, organize their team, and build camaraderie for upcoming competitions.
Truck Town Thunder competed valiantly and made it to the quarter finals. We interviewed one of our new team members for their view of the event. Kati Craghead, who is a new team member in our programming group had this to say, “Kettering Kick-off was extremely exciting and full of enthusiasm. It showed me how fun engineering can be, as well as showing me how all of the different FIRST Teams worked towards their own goals, but came together and helped each other achieve their full potential.” ‘Kettering Kick-off’ also allowed our new driver, Cody Hawkins, to get behind the controls of the robot. At the end of the day, our entire team, our entire team, both returning students and new members, walked away with a greater understanding of FIRST and a better attitude.”
