Gull Lake District Competition Update

Over the weekend of March 15th-17th the Brandon High School robotics team, Truck Town Thunder FIRST Team 68 traveled to Gull Lake High School in Richland Michigan to compete in their first district event of the year in the 2019 game, Destination: Deep Space.  Despite facing technical challenges to start the competition, the team kept trucking, pushing hard and continued to persevere.  Adapting to their capabilities, the drive team changed their strategy to play defense,  and demonstrated their skills to the field.  T3 was chosen to be part of the number 2 playoff alliance with team 4855 Ramageddon, and team 3357 Comets.  The alliance swiftly moved through the quarter-finals 2-0, then the semi-finals, winning 2-1.  In the finals T3's alliance lost the first match and came back to win the second match, setting up a tiebreaker.  In the end, T3's alliance lost to the top seeded alliance in the tiebreaker.  Despite the challenges, T3, with all their determination and hard work made it to the finals, and won the Industrial Design Award during the awards ceremony.  Truck Town Thunder will be participating at the Troy District Competition March 28-30 and is striving to qualify for the State Championship April 11-13 at Saginaw Valley State University.

Partner Highlight: Delphi Technologies

Truck Town Thunder would like to express it's gratitude to the professionals at Delphi Technologies for their contributions to our team this season.  While we have a significant tool set in our metal shop at Brandon High School, we frequently encounter situations that require advanced manufacturing.  We had several mounting plates and structural components for our robot this season that required water jet cutting.  The folks at Delphi were receptive to our requests and made time in their busy schedules to support us throughout this build season.  We appreciate your support.  Thank you!
