T3 Competes in Great Lakes Bay Region District Competition

Truck Town Thunder competed in the Great Lakes Bay Region District Competition over the weekend.

On Friday and early Saturday, the team competed in qualification matches and seeded 11th. T3 turned the tides of the competition by allying with team 4819, the Flat Mountain Mechanics and team 288, the RoboDawgs. However, because the RoboDawgs’ robot broke down during the first quarterfinals match, team 5166, the Fabricators joined our alliance and aided the team through the elimination matches. The team’s robot most commonly served as a defense robot. However, because T3 had an all-around robot, they played an offensive role as well.

The team’s alliance pushed through the quarterfinals and semifinals with a few close calls and gasps along the way. Truck and its alliance pushed through the finals with intense amounts of heart-pounding, heart-stopping, moments of suspense and hardcore action. In the end, T3 and its alliance won the finals and went home with 1st place medals.

In addition, Truck Town won the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors.
