Truck Town Thunder Travels Across the State to Compete in West Michigan
Ortonville, Michigan, Monday, March 26, 2013 –Truck Town Thunder traveled to Grand Valley State University this weekend to compete in the West Michigan FIRST Robotics District Competition. Competitively, the team finished in 11th place after qualification rounds and made it to the Semi-Finals in the Elimination rounds. The team is currently ranked 15th in the State, competitively. This weekend the team was recognized for their efforts in safety by winning the Underwriters Laboratories Industrial Safety Award. They were also recognized for their entrepreneurship efforts and sustainability by winning the Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers Entrepreneurship Award. This award celebrates entrepreneurial spirit. This award recognizes a team, which since its inception has developed the framework for a comprehensive business plan in order to scope, manage, and obtain team objectives. This team displays entrepreneurial enthusiasm and the vital business skills for a self-sustaining program. Truck Town will be competing this weekend (March 29 and 30, 2013) at the Troy FIRST District Competition to gear up to attend the Michigan State Championship, April 11-13. The team hopes they will be able to secure a spot at the state championships to qualify for the World Championships. Michigan will send twenty-seven of their 207 teams to the world championships. Truck Town hopes that with their continuous improvement and perseverance they will be able to qualify.
